In related legislation, US Senators Paul and McConnell (R) from Kentucky teamed up with two Democrat senators to propose the removal of industrial hemp from the federal controlled substance list. Supporters of the legislation state that with the decline of tobacco sales, industrial hemp could be harvested and processed, creating thousands of related jobs throughout the state.
